Las Vegas, old school cool

We drove back to Las Vegas first thing this morning and dropped off the hire car around lunchtime. After the serenity of Williams and the Grand Canyon, the noise of The Strip didn’t appeal all that much, so we caught an Uber to Fremont Street – the old part of Vegas.

The Golden Nugget

The very cool interior of The Golden Nugget casino makes you feel like you’ve stepped straight back into 1973. The actual gold nugget was found on November 9, 1975 near Bendigo in Victoria.

The Fremont East Entertainment District
The western end of Fremont Street

“The western end of Fremont Street was the representative scene for Las Vegas that was included in virtually every television show and movie that wanted to depict the glittery lights of Las Vegas.

The abundance of neon signs, like cowboy Vegas Vic, earned the street the nickname of ‘Glitter Gulch'”.
