I bought my car in 2010 from a car yard in Moorooka, on the south side of Brisbane.

I didn’t realize at the time but it was an ex-Brisbane City Council ute which means that it would have been serviced very regularly and had very low kms before being turned over – when purchased, the BF had only done approx 40,000.

It was factory LPG, meaning fuel was cheap, and being an XL model it didn’t really have any other mod cons other than a tow bar.

After lowering

The interior of my BF Falcon was a pretty basic affair.

As it was the XL model (as opposed to XR) there were cloth seats, electric windows, no automatic climate control and none of the ‘extras’ that came with the XR model. Although I did fit a Parrot hands-free phone kit.

Other mods included:

  • XR6 wheels
  • Lowering (after I bought this car) with Boge shocks
  • Headlight protectors
  • New speakers
  • Tool box in tray
Odometer Milestones

I haven’t been lucky enough to catch all of them but here are a couple of my odometer milestones…

Favourite Memories

Nearly running out of LPG

I’d been in a workshop in Brisbane all day and left the Gold Coast that morning knowing that I needed to fill up with LPG.

Traffic to Brisbane was the usual nightmare and I ran out of time to fill up on the way to the Southbank workshop. I was almost on empty but knew I had enough in the tank to get me to a servo at Kelvin Grove.

I left the workshop at Southbank and sat in grid-locked traffic for about 45 minutes trying to get back to Kelvin Grove. As I sat there in traffic, sweating on having enough fuel, I watched my fuel gauge get lower and lower until it went below the ‘E’ line and showed 8km of range left.

I finally made it to the servo and filled up. I NEVER let my car get that low again…
