Highfield Road

We have a new place to live

We purchased 38 Highfield Road, Ambleside on our 2024 trip to Tasmania.

We must have looked at 16 or so houses in a wide-range of suburbs and towns – from Sheffield, to Railton, to inner-city Devonport. We had a bucket-list of features we needed and found them all in Highfield Road.

It was the last house we looked at before jumping back on the Spirit of Tasmania for our return journey to Queensland.

The home was built in 1977 and is double-brick construction – brick outside, brick inside.

She’s well built and solid-as.

The suburb of Ambleside

“Ambleside is a residential suburb of Devonport, Tasmania, Australia located on the south eastern side of the Mersey River. The suburb rises from the river to a hill with a sunny aspect.

The suburb is to the left on the eastern entrance to the city, before the Victoria Bridge.”

As purchased in 2024| Pre-renovation

The middle level has the renovated main bathroom, with a walk in shower and a large bath with a separate toilet, laundry, double garage, storage room, and access to the enclosed yard.

Descending another level reveals the private sleeping quarters, consisting of four bedrooms, the main bedroom offers direct access to the backyard, a walk-in wardrobe, and an ensuite.

While there is a generous storage area conveniently tucked under the staircase.

Situated on a generous 1331 sqm parcel of land, there is ample space for family activities and pets.

Nestled at the base of the property, with a separate entrance from Greenbank Court, you’ll discover an impressive 8-meter by 7-meter powered shed, complete with toilet facilities.
